He’s a great instructor. We felt prepared and confident when it was time to begin the tour. Safety was especially important to us--my husband and I are both in our 60’s. If we fell, it had the potential to really mess us up, so we went into this experience with more than a little trepidation. Chris dispelled that in the first 20 minutes. He took everyone in our group through our initial paces and let us play around before he took us out. He has a way teaching that is entirely worth recording. He’s patient, and playful, not like an overzealous, watchful mom-- more like a fun auntie who expects his charges to understand. He nudged us toward independence and confidence with watchful care until we showed him something that he alone understood as “ready.” He was right—no one fell and everyone was quite skilled by the time we all returned.
The tour was supposed to be 2 1/5 hours. Ours began at 2:30. CC didn’t bring us back until after 6. Honestly, I think we were all having so much fun we forgot about the time. Chris was animated and careful as he took us places that would truly be considered the road less traveled. We’ve lived in the Chicago area since 1997. We saw some places for the first time; others from an entirely different point of view. That extra mile (or ten) was filled with information about the history and miscellany of the city. CC was always respectful and inclusive of everyone in the group. Now when anyone visits we’re going to encourage them to take this tour. It’s worth every penny.
Thanks for the experience. Fun, informative, a chance to see this beautiful city and do so in the care of a great guide. Good job, well done.
